Abstract: Open pit mining is associated with significant losses, therefore, the search for solutions that will allow extracting part of off-balance reserves is an urgent task. The SUPERIOR HIGHWALL MINERS (SHM) is a system that combines the use of underground technology for the extraction of minerals from an open surface.
The use of SHM-type complexes for open-pit mining of coal seams raises the problem of transition from the system of scheduled preventive maintenance to the system of preventive maintenance based on the actual technical condition of the units and assemblies of the complexes, which is determined based on the use of diagnostic methods. The most acceptable method of functional diagnostics is a method based on the analysis of mechanical vibrations, since when the technical state of the machine changes, the vibration signature will also change, and a change in the vibration signature can be used to detect incipient defects before they become critical.
Based on the results of the diagnostic examination of the SHM-29 complex, reference spectral masks were constructed for each of the units and assemblies, normalizing the level of vibration intensity in different frequency ranges of the spectra, which were used to assess their technical condition. According to the results of the analysis, defective units were identified, for which measures for their maintenance were proposed.
