Abstract: Currently mining enterprises more and more often use belt conveyors for mining operations. Longitudinal tear on conveyor belts leads to significant repair costs and downtime of the main equipment. The paper analyzes existing devices to detect longitudinal tears on the conveyor belts based on the use of mechanical, ultrasonic and electro-magnetic energy, evaluation of the magnetic field configuration, computer vision, infrared and x-ray radiation, and transponders.
