Abstract: The article provides requirements for methods of obtaining information on the characteristics of mining machines in coal mines by the current regulatory documentation. Methods of obtaining information include survey methods, research methods, technical diagnostic techniques and non-destructive control, industrial safety expertise techniques, test methods and others. Current regulatory documentation sets out requirements for information on the operation of mining equipment used in coal mines using standardized techniques in the form of national and interstate standards, developed and approved in accordance with the current standardization rules. In the absence of standardized methods for obtaining information on the operation of mining equipment, appropriate techniques are developed, approved by the development organization, agreed by interested organizations, and in the case of the content of the measurement methodology, intended for application in the sphere of government regulation to ensure the unity of measurements, where measurement information can be obtained not from a means of measurement, but more complex way (measurements indirect, joint or cumulative), it is subject to certification in special organizations.
