Abstract: This paper considers the issues of monitoring the technical condition of mining machines in the existing system of maintenance and repair. We describe the methods of control, which allow to highly likely forecast the place of the defect appearance, its type and criticality. Also we suggest the methodological approach to determining the economically practical period of operation according to the following criteria: profitability, i.e., the scope of works (thousands m3, thousands ton, etc.) and the cost of their maintenance.
