Abstract: The article provides information about using the doubly-fed machine, one of the promising ways to modernize the electric drive of mine hoists with induction motors. The relevance of the issue is due to the fact that a large number of lifting electric drives uses powerful induction motors with a wound rotor and a rotary station connected to it. The modernization of such drives using frequency control is not always possible and is associated with some difficulties. A method for controlling the speed and torque of the drive and a possible electric drive circuit, based on the analysis of the processes of electromechanical energy conversion in the machine and the study of its mechanical characteristics in various modes, are proposed. The proposed drive works using a combination of various operating modes of the machine, which makes it possible to expand the range of machine speed control to the values required for a mine hoist.
