Abstract: The features of mining systems in the conditions of uncertainty of the external environment are noted. An overview of the main factors that have a significant impact on the failure of parts of quarry excavators is presented. Studies conducted at mining enterprises have revealed that the durability and reliability of quarry excavators are significantly influenced by a complex of factors, including: design, technological and operational factors. The main characteristics of design factors include: the choice of reinforcing treatment of protective coatings, as well as the choice of optimal landings in movable and fixed joints. Technological factors include: the quality of machining of parts, compliance with the brand of metal and the mode of hardening processing of technical documentation. Operational factors include: compliance with the regulations of repair work, timeliness and quality of lubrication of friction units. It is proved that abrasive wear is the main type of mechanical wear of parts of quarry excavators. It is shown that the destructive bodies in this type of wear are highly solid particles. The classification of parts, friction units of excavators by types of wear is proposed, in which the friction units of two types of excavators are systematized depending on the action of various factors. Recommendations are proposed to increase the service life of parts and reduce the likelihood of unforeseen machine failures.
