Abstract: Improving the efficiency of mining equipment operations is currently becoming a pressing issue for mining company management due to the growing uncertainty and complexity of the external environment. To ensure the competitiveness of their companies, management plans and implements numerous solutions to improve the efficiency of mining equipment operations. Many specific performance indicators for mining equipment operations are used in production activities, and management decisions are guided by these indicators. These indicators include, for example, productivity, total cost of ownership of mining equipment, its service life, equipment utilization and availability, operational frequency, mean time between failures, etc. Production costs and enterprise profits are used as general indicators for assessing the efficiency of mining equipment operations. However, these indicators are not sufficiently reliable for assessing the effectiveness of management decisions aimed at improving mining equipment operations, due to the significant impact of price and demand changes on production costs and enterprise profits. Consequently, when assessing the effectiveness of management decisions in relation to overall enterprise performance, it remains difficult to determine to what extent achieved results are due to the implementation of management actions and to what extent they are due to changes in the external environment. This article substantiates the feasibility of using an adapted equipment efficiency maintenance coefficient (EEC) by mining management as a criterion for the efficiency of mining equipment operation, independent of environmental changes. The calculation of this coefficient is based on the estimated profit generated by each unit of equipment. The results of practical application of the proposed EEC criterion at the Chernogorsky open-pit mine confirmed its usefulness in substantiating a number of organizational and technological decisions.
