Abstract: A cardboard making machine (CMM) is the main technological equipment for the production of continuous cardboard. The automated electric drive of the CMM drying group provides control and regulation of the mechanical technological process for transporting paper webs and clothes of the machine. The main functions of the automated electric drive of the CMM drying group are speed changes, as well as automatic stabilization of the speeds of machine sections installed for the technological process of producing a certain type of cardboard. A controlled AC drive is more expensive and less economical, so modernizing the electric drive of the KDM drying group is an urgent task. The most widespread are multi-motor DC electric drives, when each section is driven by one or more electric motors. Semiconductor converters based on controlled thyristors are widely used to convert alternating current into direct current. Power consumption depends on the parameters of the machine (width, load on the bearings of shafts and cylinders, types of bearings, trunnion diameters, etc.) and on the speed of the machine. The article uses a method for determining power by specific indicators (statistical) based on measurements of actual power consumption on a number of identical machines and relating it to 1 m of machine width and 1 m/min of its speed. Calculations of rated and maximum power consumption were performed. The П52М DC electric motor was selected for maximum power; the characteristics of the selected electric motor are given. The natural mechanical and electromechanical characteristics of the П52М DC electric motor have been determined. A basic power circuit of the “thyristor converter – motor” system is proposed. As a result of modernization of the electric drive of the CMM drying group, the frequency of paper web breakage and machine downtime are reduced.
